I was wondering if you could help me.
As a seasoned transit patron, would you please instill your great wisdom upon me so that I too can be wise and all-knowing. Thank you in advance – Oh Great One…
1) I am interested in all transit-related etiquette. (oopps…I just realized that perhaps you are not the best person to answer this question).
2) Is it possible to ride the same bus (in the same seat) for 1 hour and twenty minutes without your butt falling asleep?
3) Do you know how to sleep on a bus without (a) getting a really bad crick in the neck (b) sleeping with your mouth open (c) using the stranger beside you as a pillow (d) drooling or a combination of the above?
4) For high speed cornering situations, should I wear a helmet to keep my noggin’ from hitting the window too hard, causing brain damage? (…too late…never-mind…)
Me, Myself & I
BTW - when people from "the Grove" get off the bus, either in Edmonton or the Grove... They actually 'thank' the driver as they get off the bus. I don't think I've ever seen any Edmontonians do that (they're too busy with their busy-busy minds). I'm sure at first, the ETS Grove route drivers must have thought it must be something in the water out here... but now that they're used to it, I bet they would be unwilling to transfer from the Grove route to a different one.
It's funny how just the simplest of things can make all the difference in the world.

There was a bus driver back in S'toon who used to slam on the brakes just to knock sleeping people out of their seats. Mean, but pretty funny to those of us who were awake.
I recommend not sleeping on any bus with a large number of teenagers on it, lest you leave the bus with something written on your forehead. "Anne Murray Rocks", for example. (*I'm* not the one who did it. I'm just saying, I have seen these things go down.)

Also, naturally you can stay at our house if necessary. We and the mongrels would be happy to see you.

G,
Well, I must admit that more than just my butt has fallen asleep on the bus already this term.
Since the bus is filled with commuters and college students dedicated to being on the bus hours before they actually get to their destination, I hold little fear of my face being used as a billboard. I also sleep very lightly, and have lightening fast reflexes, so I should be able to inflict some damage (or at least embarrassement) on any individual who would attempt such a stunt.
Besides...your roommy doesn't ride my bus and neither does my brother, so I really have nothing to worry about.
*If either of the aforementioned individuals attempt to mock me - I will not be responsible for any actions I may undertake to prevent such an attack, and/or seek revenge for attempting such a stunt*
I do appreciate the offer of lodging should I miss the last bus and be too chicken to fight someone for a nice park bench (Yeah, I know - I wouldn't cut it as a homeless person).
My advisor has seriously recommended that I try to work out a way to stay in town a couple of nights per week because I'm spending between 3-4 hours per day either on the bus, driving to/from the bus or walking to/from the bus. That's a lot of time, especially since it's only a 50 minute drive to the U from home. We'll see how it goes for now...I may cop out and start driving in again.
