My brother had one of those or maybe *we* had one, however it had buttons and made sounds so perhaps he thought it was his...? We had the math one too if I remember correctly.
Fun times - irritating the crap out of our parents with speak N spell in the car...
I preferred to read a book on most car trips though. I found a book worked best for tuning out the chatter of an annoying little brother.
